For the last few years years, Monika has been traveling the world speaking at conferences and universities about blockchain and the coming wave of new technology that is going to have a huge effect on the way we invest, transact, and generally do business. June 2019 / Zug, Switzerland – Crypto Valley Summit
Monika Proffitt was invited by a venture capital firm to attend the Crypto Valley Summit in Zug, Switzerland. Along with the conference, there were many pitch competitions, one with notable incubator, CV VC, which was instrumental in hosting events before, during and after the main conference.


May 2019 / New York, NY – Publicize Blockchain
Monika Proffitt co-hosted an event for Publicize Blockchain at the Flatiron Building, with coverage from nationwide broadcasters including CNBC, Forbes, and more. It was right in the middle of Blockchain Week, and came on the heels of the Consensys conference.


May 2019 / Brooklyn, NY – ASD Token
Monika Proffitt spoke in a session titled “Regulations,” focusing on some of the regulatory challenges of issuing security tokens. Held at the Williamsburg Hotel, she discussed the ideal framework for facilitating the issuance of asset-backed tokens, given the current landscape of regulations and jurisdictional issues that an issuer must comply with.


April 2019 / Atlanta, GA – Pitch Night at Bitcoin HQ
Monika Proffitt presented Rise Markets to a group of enthusiastic investors from both the crypto and real estate markets at a private gathering in Atlanta at the Bitcoin HQ.


April 2019 / South Bend, IN – IDEA Week at Notre Dame
IDEA Week is an innovation festival organized to provide students and entrepreneurs with the practical knowledge and inspiration needed to innovate within their own careers. IDEA Week 2019 featured the co-founder of WIRED magazine and Billy Nye the Science Guy. Monika Proffitt was invited to speak about innovations in blockchain technology and the future of entrepreneurship, as well as add her book Blockchain 101, to the school bookstore and library.


March 2019 / New York, NY – RedF Club
The RedF Club is a professional organization for women working in the industries of real estate development and finance. Monika Proffitt presented Rise Markets to the RedF Club and discussed the future relationship of blockchain technology and securitized assets.


March 2019 / New York, NY – NYC Acquchat
NYC AcquChat hosts events focused on alternative capital opportunities, including blockchain and real estate technologies. Monika Proffitt was invited to speak on the advantages of securitizing real estate using blockchain technology.


March 2019 / Austin, TX – Crypto Vixens Lounge at South by Southwest
At SXSW, Monika Proffitt was invited to speak on a panel alongside other entrepreneurs working in emergent technologies. She spoke about how blockchain technology acts as the foundation for a larger ecosystem of innovations in technology. Read about it in 17 Women Who Crushed It at SXSW 2019.


February 2019 / San Juan, Puerto Rico – Kinetic Financial Summit
The founder and CEO of Kinetic International Bank extended an invite to Rise Markets to present at their annual Kinetic Financial Summit in Puerto Rico. Rise Markets presented its cutting edge technology and graphical interface to Kinetic’s vast audience of investors.


January 2019 / Boston, MA – MIT
Monika Proffitt was invited to The Massachusetts Institute of Technology to speak at its 26-year running class on entrepreneurship. Monika spoke about raising seed funding within and beyond the venture capital world, and specifically how she is raising capital for Rise Markets.


January 2019 / Eden, UT – Peer Summit 
Peer Summit is an invitation only retreat for “leaders, authors, change-makers and blockchain founders.” Monika Proffitt was invited to speak on a panel about new social impact initiatives that are currently leveraging blockchain technology.


September 2018 – Blockchain 101: Fundamentals of a New Economy / available on Amazon
Blockchain 101 explains in simple, easy to digest terms, the fundamentals of blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, “tokenomics,” and the growing impact of these things in all sectors of the global economy. If you are wondering what all of the hype is about, or wanting to learn what new opportunities will soon be available to the everyday investor, this book is the place to start.


September 2018 / Boston – Tokenfest
Boston was the perfect backdrop for getting talented technologists, big real estate developers and non-profits together to discuss  the multiple uses for blockchain in developed infrastructure as well as in disaster relief areas, such as Puerto Rico. Met up with the Cold Storage Coins folks again, and will be helping to bring their offline wallet products to more events in the future.


August 2018 / Philadelphia – Co-hosting Coinvention
I had the pleasure of co-hosting the Coinvention event in Philadelphia, meeting lots of high quality ICOs and investors, and giving away gold, silver and copper Cold Storage Coins.


August 2018 / Las Vegas – Blockshow
Bad photographer but great connections. I met up with several colleagues at Blockshow, including Mike Miglio and Adam Wolfe from ICO Law Group, and Jim Sellers and Nate Chandra, the founders of Buttrfly. Also of note was the sheer number of investors that I ran into. Definitely wish I had thrown an investor party at this conference. Next time…


August 2018 / Las Vegas – ChainXchange Panel: From Idea to ICO
I was happily immersed in a panel discussion with Adryenn Ashley on the issues that arise as new companies dive into the deep end of tokenomincs, security offerings, utility coins and ICOs. We covered issues of taxation, tweeting, proper marketing practices and what is on the horizon as more and more companies “throw a coin at it.”


July 2018 / Atlantic City – Blockchain World Conference: Minting the Future
Panel discussion with Adryenn Ashley on the future of cryptocurrencies as they evolve and adapt to address various needs in different sectors of the economy. Topics to include new payment methods and investment vehicles, as well as the implications of distributed information storage and communications.


July 2018 – Future Tech Podcast 
On the Future Tech Podcast, I got a chance to talk about security coins, real estate, wealth distribution and many implications of blockchain in the not so distant future. (Note: The Revolution will not be Centralized.)

Panel discussion at the Blockchain Economic Forum in San Francisco on the future of economics as it relates to securitized assets on the blockchain, with a focus on real estate and security coins.



May 2018 / New Orleans – Plughitz Live Radio & Podcast
As CEO of Rise Housing, I did an interview with Plughitz Live which, as you can see from the footage and the banter, was a total pleasure. Here’s how they summarize what they heard: “When most people hear the term ‘fractional ownership,’ they immediately think of a timeshare. However, groups of people have been buying properties together for ages, but it requires a lot of investment capital and infrastructure. Rise Housing leverages the power of blockchain and smart contracts to allow a new group of people to own a property together.” That’s right!



April 2018 / Austin – Blood Clots and Blockchain: The Aesthetics of Circulation 
Presentation on circulation and healthy economies at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, TX as a part of Ignite Talks. Ignite is unusual in that they require exactly 20 slides, and the slides advance automatically every 15 seconds. It makes for a lot of five minute presentations that are entertaining and inspiring. While in Austin, I was interviewed for the third documentary on Blockchain in as many months.
